Battle in the Saddle Team Penning is Fun for the Whole Family

The ninth annual Battle in the Saddle Team Penning Event returns to the Kentucky Horse Park’s Covered Arena on Friday, September 2, 2022.

The Kentucky Horse Park Foundation is proud to present the 2022 Battle in the Saddle Team Penning competition, presented by Mt. Brilliant Farm. Teams compete against each other to determine who has the skills and bravery needed to pen a group of cattle in the fastest time.

And all of this fun is in the name of charity – to raise funds to support the Kentucky Horse Park!

Prizes will be awarded to the top three overall teams and ribbons will be awarded, First Place through Sixth Place. Each rider on the first-place team receives the highly coveted Battle in the Saddle silver belt buckle custom designed by Montana Silversmiths.

The Battle in the Saddle competition will begin at 7:00 p.m. General admission is free. A Kid’s Boot Race will kick off the night at 6:30 p.m. An Adult Boot Race and After Party featuring the Ranahans will take place after the competition.

VIP Tickets are also available to a pre-competition dinner for $125 per person. Dinner will be served at 6:00 p.m. and tickets must be purchased in advance. To pre-order VIP tickets visit www.khpfoundation.org.
