Riah is the founder behind this concept who scribbled down a dream she’d had in 2009. But what would go from midnight scrawls of a dream to keep it from wafting out of her memory turned into an epic adventure that would lead to her creation of Nourished Folks. She left her corporate job behind, moved to Italy, and became a nanny in the Tuscan hills, loving the simple pleasure of picking the olives from the trees and grapes right off the vine.

After more traveling and then after having her daughter in 2016, her old dream resurfaced in the face of becoming a doula. Riah saw first-hand how food facilitates healing after birth and how it takes a village to nourish those moms in order for them to nourish their babies. With this, her idea for Nourished Folks flourished, becoming a place where food not only nourishes to live your best life but also beckons the taste buds for primal pleasure.

On the table, granola is placed for your enjoyment. While Riah changes the recipe often, it’s usually made with almond butter, walnuts, and chia seeds. The two meals we tried were nothing short of out of this world. The fried rice with an over-easy egg on top was just so incredible. And we mourned the kale salad after taking the last bite because it was so good.
